Kiwanis Park in Tempe, AZ

Where do I even begin with Kiwanis Park in Tempe?  There is so much happening at Kiwanis Park that I will have to break this topic into the following articles; Park, Recreation Center, Fitness Center at the Recreation Center.  Make sure that you keep checking back for the additional information on Kiwanis Park. As for now, I will begin touching on the basics.

Kiwanis Park is a beautiful park with a lake for fishing and boating, trails/paths, sports facilities, armadas and grills.  The city of Tempe has owned the land for the park since 1972.  The Kiwanis Club donated money towards the purchase of the land and this is why the Park is named Kiwanis.  Kiwanis Park is located at Mill Avenue & All-American Way.  This park has so much to offer the city of Tempe and its’ residents.

Picnic in Tempe, AZ For corporate picnics, you will want to check out the Ruben Romero Picnic Area.  In this area there are horseshoe pits, grills, basketball courts, volleyball courts, playground, covered Ramada’s, grills, sinks and electrical outlets.  This area can hold up to 1500 people.

If you have a large group, there is the Fiesta Ramada area which is located near the softball fields and a large playground.  There is also a volleyball court area near the Fiesta Ramada.  This area can hold groups as small as 40 up to groups of 500.

There are Lakeside Ramada’s that can be reserved for family gatherings.  The Ramada’s are covered with tables and grills and can hold up to 25 people.

If you are looking for a cute, secluded area for a wedding, check out the Sister Cities Garden area of the park.  This area is located by the parking lot across from the Fiesta Ramada Area.  This area can seat up to 200 people.  It would be a nice venue for an outdoors wedding.  There are many flowers and shrubs planted in this area and are separated from the rest of the park.

Tempe, AZ ParksThe Ramada areas can be reserved.  There is a short form to fill out and fees to be paid.  All of this can be done at the Parks and Recreation office located on the second floor of the Tempe Public Library.

This park has hosted Game and Fish days and movies in the Park.  These activities are offered for free just bring a picnic and a chair or blanket.   Make sure to check your City of Tempe Parks and Recreation book called Tempe Opportunities.  They are usually listed in the middle of the book.

For the sports minded people, Kiwanis offers; volleyball, basketball, baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, tennis, batting cages.  The park offers bike and paddle boat rentals.  There is a sidewalk that takes you all round the lake and the park if you are into walking or jogging.Kiwanis Park in Tempe, AZ

So, if you are looking for a place to get some exercise, play some sports, host a corporate event, get married, host a family gathering, fish, or have a place  for the kids to slide down some major grass hills, make your way to Kiwanis Park in Tempe.  It has something to offer for everyone.
